Canine Inspections

Canine Inspections for Bed Bugs

Most human bed bug inspections involve removing all infested items, such as bedding, furniture and carpets, which can be very time consuming, disruptive and expensive. Our canines, using their keen sense of smell, can detect live bed bugs and viable bed bug eggs with a high level of accuracy. Instead of tearing a room apart to inspect for bed bugs, our canine teams can find the bed bugs within minutes, making the inspection more accurate and cost-effective compared to traditional detection methods.

Provide post-treatment follow-up. We’ll conduct post-treatment inspections with our bed bug dogs to determine if live bed bugs are still present in the environment and if the bed bugs have moved beyond the treatment area.

If you think you may have a bed bug problem, it is best to take care of it as soon as possible. Left untreated a bed bug infestation can grow rapidly and become a major problem. Call us today at 212-714-0848 and find out how Apex Pest Control can help you clear your home or office of bed bugs quickly and affordably.

PREPARATION FOR CANINE INSPECTION

Vacuum all floors and furniture thoroughly.

Remove all pets from the premises at least ½ hour before scheduled time of inspection.

Place all pet food, water, and pet toys up on the kitchen or bathroom countertop. These items must not be accessible to our dogs.

Remove any potpourri, deodorizers, or air fresheners at least 2 hours prior to inspection.

Close all windows and outside doors. There must not be any air drafts at least 2 hours prior to inspections.

Reduce as much clutter as possible. The canine team must have access to all furniture, especially beds, sofas, loveseats, recliners, and dressers. This ensures the highest detailed inspection possible.

There must not be any noise or human distractions. If you are present, you may be asked to stand in the hallway or kitchen during the inspection.

Turn off all portable fans, exhaust fans, and ceiling fans at least 30 minutes prior to our arrival.

Extinguish all smoking materials 2 hours prior to the inspection. This is very important!

No pesticides can be used within 30 days of inspection. If an application has been done, then please let us know.

If there are any spilled syringes, pills, or any other medication in the search area, the canine team may refuse the inspection until the items have been removed.

Our canine scent detection team will perform at the highest possible accuracy but we need all of the above conditions met. If the checklist is not followed we may refuse to do the inspection. This is very important for our dog’s safety.
